What We Believe
At Prayer Harbor, we are rooted in the unchanging truth of God’s Word and led by the Spirit in love and prayer. While we are not affiliated with any specific denomination, our beliefs align closely with historic Baptist principles and the foundational teachings of Scripture.
The Bible
We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God and is the final authority for all matters of faith and life (2 Timothy 3:16–17). It is God-breathed, sufficient, and completely trustworthy.
God
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19). He is sovereign, holy, just, merciful, and deeply personal.
Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross as the perfect sacrifice for sin, rose bodily from the dead, and now reigns as Lord of all (John 1:1–14; Romans 5:8; 1 Corinthians 15:3–4).
Salvation by Grace Through Faith
We believe salvation is a free gift of God’s grace. It is received through personal faith in Jesus Christ alone, not through works or religious rituals (Ephesians 2:8–9).
Everyone must personally repent, believe, and receive Jesus as Lord and Savior to be saved (Acts 3:19; Romans 10:9–10).
Believer’s Baptism
We believe baptism is a public testimony of a believer’s faith in Jesus Christ. It is symbolic — representing the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ — and should follow personal salvation (Romans 6:3–5; Acts 2:41).
While we value this step of obedience, we do not teach baptism as necessary for salvation.
Prayer
We believe prayer is a vital and powerful connection to God. Through prayer, we intercede for others, seek God’s guidance, and grow in intimacy with Him.
“The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective” (James 5:16, NIV).
The Church
We believe the Church is the body of Christ, made up of all true believers. It is not defined by buildings or denominations but by people who follow Jesus, gather for worship, and live out their faith through service and love (Hebrews 10:24–25; 1 Corinthians 12:12–27).
The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer at the moment of salvation. He convicts, teaches, empowers, and equips us for godly living and ministry (John 14:26; Acts 1:8; Galatians 5:22–23).
The Great Commission
We believe every believer is called to share the Gospel and make disciples. Evangelism and missions are central to God’s purpose for His Church (Matthew 28:19–20).
Eternal Life
We believe in eternal life — that those who trust in Christ will spend forever with God, and those who reject Him face eternal separation (John 3:16–18; Revelation 20:11–15).
Heaven is the promised home of every believer.
